10 Biggest Health Scams Exposed

Most of us have, every now and then, a feeling that the doctors don't always do what is best for us, that they more think about their wallets than our health. Well, in some cases that even might be true, but generally speaking I tend to believe they are hard working sincere men and women.

Then I stumble over an article like this, "10 biggest health scams exposed", written by Jessica Coffey. There are some really disturbing claims presented in it - almost sound conspiratorial at some places - but the whole thing is too long to refer in this short text. I quote a few short lines from it, you can read the whole article HERE.

"In the past 30 years, the number of vaccines parents are supposed to give their children has tripled (and, not coincidentally, so have disease rates). And to make matters worse, there are more vaccines being rolled out every year. One of them is so dangerous we haven't had to wait 10 or 20 years to see the devastating side effects."

"Not all vitamin supplements are created equal and the most dangerous ones on the market may be sitting in your medicine cabinet right now."

"Commercial weight-loss programs are designed to make you fat. Read about the dangerous ingredients you're consuming in these meals and how they're slowly destroying your health while keeping you fat."

And much, much more. And worse. I really urge you to read it, this one literally might save lives.

How much protein do you need?

Now, protein is definitely important. In fact the older you get the more important it is. However… Protein is also one of those nutrients that the food industry has gotten a hold of and turned into a hype-driven marketing tool. Which means there’s more myth than truth in MOST of what you hear about this essential nutrient. So, how much protein do you really need? According to an article by Daniel Pendick, Harvard Medical School, the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein is a modest 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. The RDA is the amount of a nutrient you need to meet your basic nutritional requirements. In a sense, it’s the minimum amount you need to keep from getting sick — not the specific amount you are supposed to eat every day. United States Departement of Agriculture have a free online tool that will calculate daily nutrient recommendations based on the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) established by the Health and Medicine Division of the Natio...

Coffee can reduce your risk of early death

Yes, one minute you die from it the next is it healthy. We all know how this goes, it all depend on who do the study, and why, it seem. However, a new study made by European Society of Cardiology and involving close to 20,000 individuals, and published late last year, people who consumed at least four cups of coffee daily had a 64% lower risk of early death compared to those never or rarely consumed coffee. Coffee has also been shown to reduce the risk of many diseases, including type 2 diabetes, liver disease, colorectal cancer, Alzheimer's and skin cancer, too. Coffee is loaded with antioxidants, many are naturally occurring antioxidants found in the coffee bean, while others are created during the roasting process. It's these compounds that science links with positive effects in reducing the risk of several diseases. So, there we go. Think it's time for a good cup of Java!

Coffee may come with a cancer warning label in California!

Well... We all know strange things happen. All the time and all over the world. Here is one example: A preliminary decision from a California superior court judge in Los Angeles could affect thousands of coffee shops including Starbucks, 7-Eleven and even your local gas station. In the future the shops may have to put up a warning that tells customers there is a possible cancer risk linked to their morning cup of java. At the same time, anyone that is 21 and older can buy and consume marijuana when you're in California, regardless of whether you're a resident of the state or just visiting. It’s called “recreational” marijuana, to distinguish it from “medical” marijuana, which requires a doctor’s recommendation. Ok, we all know both coffee and marijuana is good for you. As long as you don't overdo the usage of the stuff, but that goes for about everything you consume, from bananas to cheese. The health benefits of coffee I wrote about back in february , have a look a...
